The 'people' entry - II
Believe it or not, proud people don't irk me. If you ask me, I prefer to be humble as much as I can. But, I am a Leo, and I have to confess there is a very proud Leo in me. Since I am proud, I definitely do not have the right to dislike proud people. Logical? Instead, what I cannot tolerate are snobbish people - proud people who looks down on ME. I don't give a fuck if you are proud, but I hate it when I am despised. To understand how much I hate to be looked down on, imagine you are proud, but someone looked down you. I have 2 personal experience to share:
1) I remember it was during Sec Sch A-Maths class. Based on some test results, the teacher divided our class into 3 columns: those who passed; those who failed; and those who dropped A-Maths. Dividing the class into groups was a popular trend during the 90s, and Mr Snob probably felt he can provide the necessary attention for different students. During a particular lesson, the 'failures' column happen to be short of a chair. So I looked around the classroom, and saw an unoccupied chair at the 'passers' column. I made my way there, to take the unoccupied chair back to my column. But before I could finish what I was doing, Mr Snob shouted across the classroom, "Kelvin where do you think you are going? You failed your A-Maths right? Go back to your place!" Trust me, it is difficult to paint the scenario vividly, but my blood was boiling them. If that incident had occured 8 years later, I would have threw a punch into his face. Such was my anger then. But then again, a letter to MOE and cc to the media is not a bad alternative.
2) This incident happened not long ago. I was with a group of friends at zouk. We were at phuture earlier, then we head to zouk. We squeezed our way into the zouk dancefloor, like everybody always do anyway. Then I overheard a bitch saying "一直挤!又不是很帅!" I was just behind her, she said that quite loudly, I suppose it was for me to hear. And I didn't even bumped/ pushed/ elbowed/ hit her, I probably just interrupted her from 'demostrating' her dancing prowess? Excuse me, if you cannot stand being squeezed; or pushed; go to a dance class lah! To '借过' is a norm, it is almost impossible that there won't be people going past you. So I really don't see why she reacted that way. She might have thought she is that damn beautiful and every guy must be bio-ing her, but I can't comment on that. I didn't saw her face. And if I didn't even bother to bio her in the beginning... :)
