Army makes me stupid
Indeed. After our passing out, my BMT mates had a dinner celebration at Marina South. And you see, since I am taking a train from Boon Lay to Marina Bay, I should alight at City Hall and change to the Marina Bay-bound train. But calamity struck:
1) It took me a good few minutes, after the train had already left City Hall, for me to realise I had forgotten to alight. I had to take a train back to City Hall.
2) Now that the train is travelling in an opposite direction towards Boon Lay, I should either alight at Raffles Place or if I chose to alight at City Hall, I should take the escalator up/down to my Marina Bay-bound train.
Now put yourself in my shoes and picture the scenario of Kelvin stoning away on the train, looking at the colourful world, after I had JUST PASSED OUT FROM MOHAWK. To this point I have to clarify that before enlistment, I have never ever alighted at the wrong stop; board the wrong bus/train. I might be careless in my examinations but I am never stupid enough to make a "common sense mistake" like alighting at the wrong stop. Things like these should be natural, things like boarding/alighting are instinctive, they are in you!
And following that, a string of memorable mishaps began happening to me. Things that had never happened to me before, that I have never dreamt would happen to me. Or how about when I am returning home from Orchard, I would accidentally take the train heading towards Jurong East via Ang Mo Kio? Made a wrong shade on the Singapore Pools betting slip? Something like a $500 bet...
I had to go Jurong Point this afternoon to get my phone repaired. As I am receiving stuffs, I wanted to leave my computer on. I switch off my monitor, and then proceeded to bend down and turn off the mains. Absolute classic.
